Late 19th century, each hand-painted in the Imari palette with gilt highlights; the ship a Takarabune or treasure ship censer, molded two-part reticulated form, with a red seal at upper center (11 x 7 1/4 x 12 in.); the second, a lidded box in the form of a Samurai helmet, a molded two-part form, not marked (5 1/4 x 6 1/2 x 8 in.).

The first, with a firing flaw to interior base and associated hairline, rubbing to gilt decoration, minor glaze flakes and abrasions; the second, with professional restoration to lid and base, light spidering hairlines to base, rubbing to gilt decoration.
