(Lincoln County, North Carolina, 1805-1867), excellent ovoid form, thickly applied high gloss alkaline drip glaze, four wide grooved lug handles, "DS" within a rectangle impressed on one handle, capacity mark for "16" impressed on another handle. This particular maker's mark, made by a single stamp, indicates a date circa 1840s.

Private collection. Found under the current consignor's home in the 1930s.

Rim with four chips; handle stamped "DS" with 3 in. edge chip; second handle with three edge chips; tight spider hairline to side of body below "DS" stamped handle; horizontal 6 in. tight hairline at base rim; overall tight sound condition.
