Circa 1900, the lozenge shaped box is composed of a cobalt porcelain base decorated with gilt enamel floral sprays, the oval lid has a semi-nude portrait of a young beauty, after Angelo Asti, set within a gilt metal mount. The underside of the box bears the Volkstedt mark, the plaque likely produced at KPM. Indistinct signature lower right.
