Aboard the Faurefax ("Fairfax") during the First Anglo-Dutch War, July 31, 1654, to the Admiralty at Whitehall, 2 pp. with integral address panel, quarto, presented in a two-sided wooden frame with an 18th century Italian engraving of Lawson. The letter is in reference to the pending court martial of one John Baldors (?) on "Suspition of Murthor."

DOA 17 x 21 in.

Admiral Sir John Lawson was one of England's great naval commanders during the critical period in which that nation was becoming the world's foremost sea power. His correspondence seldom comes to market.

Small areas of loss to one corner and around the broken wax seal; overall light toning; the ink remaining bold and legible. Very good condition.
