A Chinese Canton Ivory and Painted Fan with Lacquer Storage Box

19th century, finely carved ivory blades with figures in landscape and large flora, paper of fan brightly painted with colored scenes of figures on terraces, the majority of figures with applied painted ivory faces, a black and gold lacquer rectangular box with serpentine sides is decorated with seated and standing figures and with floral sprays, the interior lid is lined with painted silk decorated with a scene of a noble family.

Fan painted decoration is in very good condition with normal wear to edges of folds in fan; two of the ivory blades are missing and two more have damage and loss to the ivory; the box interior silk painting is in very good condition; the exterior of the box has a fair amount of wear to gilding and loss and chips to edges.
