Pair of Japanese Rimpa School Hanging Scrolls

19th century, two scrolls, ink and colors on silk, in an inscribed tomobako box, both paintings have red artist's seals, no signatures, bright colors depicting landscapes with birds, flowers and insects in great detail but with the feel of the Rimpa school with the light brushwork wash.

Collection of Doug Eyre, Professor Emeritus of Geography at University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. Given as a gift from the Medical Association of Hiroshima as stated in carbon copy of letter from the association to Prof. Eyre enclosed in box with paintings.
