Public Papers of the Presidents: Harry S. Truman (Washington: U. S. Government Printing Office, 1961-1966), included are volumes for 1945, 1946, 1947,1948, 1949, 1950, 1951, 1952-53, each quarto with gray linen boards having a gilt title on spine. The six books inscribed are addressed to Anne Smith between 1963 and 1966. Supplementing the set is Mr. President: The first Publication From the Personal Diaries, Private Letters, Papers and revealing Interviews of Harry S. Truman (New York: Farrar, Straus and Young, 1952), large quarto, hardcover; included with the books are seven (7) copies of a Senate circular "Remarks by Former President Harry S. Truman...on May 8, 1964" (Washington: U.S. Government Printing Office, 1964), 18 pages, octavo.

An explanatory note accompanying some of the books gives them context in the following excerpt: "This book is one of a group given by President Truman to Anne Smith, long an employee of the Truman Library, and to her mother, Mrs. T. F. Stockton. The group included one book which Mr. Truman helped to compile, three which he wrote and eight volumes of his presidential papers."

Shelf wear; internally clean; the inscriptions quite bold. Overall very good condition.
