Chinese Gold-Splashed Tripod Vessel with Arabic Inscription

The base cast with a six-character Xuande reign mark within a recessed panel Da Ming Xuande nian zhi (Made in the Xuande era of the Great Ming), the deep circular basin raised on three short flared legs, rim has a flat edge, two twisted rope style handles, the bronze has registers on either side with Arabic in low relief and small gold splashes all over the body.

This type of Chinese incense burner was made for export to the Islamic market abroad as well as for Muslims living in China. Incense burners, traditionally would flank Chinese temples, and began to be used more and more in mosques all over China.

Good condition with some nicks and loss to interior edge of rim, small amount of white substance on both Arabic inscriptions on either side.
