Antebellum Virginia Archive of Approximately 30 Letters
Lot Details & Additional Photographs
Many with postal covers addressed to John Robert Boggess (1824-1896) of Clarksburg (now West Virginia) during the 1850s. The overall content appears to be routine local news, however one letter stands out as it was written from "Cottonwood Encampment K. T. (Kansas Territory)" by a friend or family member who was a frontier surveyor. He writes from the Great Plains of starry nights, claim jumpers and buffalo herds.

Good estate condition.
