1830s, the 31 in. unmarked straight steel blade etched with foliate designs and arms, these embellished with gilt and set off by additional blue finish to the fields, the brass cross guard and knucklebow cast with patriotic and classical devices, the stylish grip in mother-of-pearl, the sword sheathed in an all-brass scabbard engraved on the outer side and having two suspension loops.

Scratches to the blade and wear to its blued finish; old break and loss to quillon; the scabbard throat is loose and should be re-soldered; remaining sword elements remain tightly fitted. Overall good condition.
