Early 19th century, signed "Sosetsu" with two red stamps on the lower right hand side, ink and colors on silk, two monkeys are depicted in a peach tree, painting is on its original brocade mount but cut down and framed under glass, could be returned to its original hanging scroll format.

Sosetsu Mori was the grandson of Sosen Mori who is highly acclaimed in Japan for his paintings of monkeys. Chinese lunar new year this year is symbolized by the monkey.

Good condition with a few minor dark splashes to the silk by the lower monkey and a few black marks to the left and below the signature.
