18th and 19th centuries - the first composed of (16) mother-of-pearl carved and pierced staves with chicken skin panels, one side painted with bird, butterfly and floral motifs, verso painted with central landscape panel flanked by floral panels, paper border with printed and hand-colored court scenes and gilt details, gilt metal loop handle and each end with applied gilt and enameled metal mount with oval mirror (stave 10.75 in.) (several loose staves, tears to paper border, some paint flakes); second also with carved and pierced mother-of-pearl staves, the center with scene of four figures with printed and hand-colored border with figural scenes, several center staves with thin opalescent applied abalone backing, gilt metal loop handle (stave 9.25 in.) (staining and foxing, several splits and repairs to paper border, one missing shell insert); the third is an early 19th century fan of carved and pierced horn staves threaded with cream ribbon, the whole highlighted with gilt details, one side with inset reflective silver sequins (stave 6.75 in.) (some wear and flaking to gilt details, some loss to silver sequins).
