Although born in Germany in 1891, Erik Haupt (1891-1984) is most associated with Baltimore, Maryland. It was in this city that he studied, and later taught, at the Maryland Institute. He is best known for formal portraiture, with his works hanging in the Supreme Court, Yale University, and elsewhere.
