McElroy's "Andersonville" Inscribed by POW,

"Andersonville: A Story of Rebel Military Prisons" (Toledo: DA Locke 1879), 655 pp., 8 vo (9" x 5.5"), leather boards, this copy of McElroy's famous work on Southern Prisons is heavily inscribed by Samuel R. Eakins, a veteran of the 70th Ohio Volunteers and an Andersonville survivor, Eakins wrote in part: "... I was taken prisoner the 28 July 1864 and taken to Andersonville, GA... Left Andersonville 14 April 1865 paroled (sic) at Tomasville GA 17 Apr...", Eakins also recounts his service history and lists his battle honors, these include Shiloh, Vicksburg, and the Atlanta Campaign.

Fair overall with loose spine, modern red tape on cover and spine splits on front end papers, internally good condition with even browning, light stains.
