Continental, mid 19th century, the first designed as an oval plaque with gold canatelle and bead work throughout; the second designed as a unique mourning brooch with gold canatelle and bead work throughout as well as turquoise enamel and seed pearl center decoration, the reverse with glazed compartment containing a lock of hair and engraved "April 1862", both mounted in low karat gold.

Both in good condition considering age and use; the first brooch with later pin fittings. The second brooch with slight damage to wirework on edge.
