Beaded Bracelet, Floral Earclips by Miriam Haskell
Lot Details & Additional Photographs
American, the first piece designed as a double sided wide bangle bracelet, circa 1940s, composed of gilt metal set with six round prong set yellow rhinestone stations, each surrounded by hand strung yellow beads, further set with three dimensional flowers centering on smaller round light yellow rhinestones throughout, completed by a slide in closure and detachable safety chain, unsigned (inner diameter approximately 2.25" x 2"), the second piece consisting of a pair of large earclips, circa 1950s, composed of gilt metal centered with a blue cabochon with faux matrix resembling Persian turquoise and having a floral metal surround studded with prong set white rhinestones and blue glass cabochons, the reverse stamped "Miriam Haskell" (1.5" x 1 3/8").

Estate of Shirley and Harold Brenner, Cary NC and formerly of Studio City, California and New York

While unsigned, the bracelet is almost certainly by Miriam Haskell and most likely dates before World War II, when Haskell did not sign her jewelry.

The bangle in excellent condition for age with one of the smaller yellow rhinestone centers missing; not noticeable when worn and bracelet is double sided, wear to finish of metal to the inside of the bracelet as to be expected with nice, mellow patina to metal overall on bracelet. Earclips with one tiny rhinestone missing at the top not visible when worn; no degradation to metal in the form of verdigris so typical of many Haskell pieces of this age.
