Qing Dynasty, one side presents a black lacquered surface inlaid and appliqued with mother-of-pearl, jade, and hardstone in the format of a central temple surrounded by numerous figures each engaged in a different pursuit, bride and stream in the foreground, the top and side borders with floral compositions and the base border decorated with six intriguing mythological creatures. The reverse side has a vibrant red lacquered field hand-painted with exotic avian forms in a landscape setting. Feet with brass cuffs; panels connect by pin and eye hinges.
