New Jersey Federal Inlaid Tall Case Clock

Early 19th century, fine mahogany with poplar secondary, the hood features a broken arch pediment terminating in brass rosettes centered with a brass eagle finial and three panels of satinwood inlay, above a hand-painted metal face with Arabic numerals, a humble farm house painting over the "12" with floral clusters in the corners. The face has a second hand, time and wind and date apertures, brass works, and is flanked by fully turned columns. The waist door is of tombstone shape faced with flame mahogany veneers, and flanked by turned quarter columns, the case raised on a delicate bracket foot base with light wood string inlay. With two weights, key, pendulum.

Solder repair to eagle finial; some minor veneer lifts near base; not guaranteed to be complete or in working condition. -Includes 2 keys, pendulum, and weights. -Veneer work to central vertical plinth. -Hairline to left swan neck pediment. -Damage and areas of loss to paint on metal face. -Door to door re-glazed to interior. -Bottom board broken out. -Back is original with later glue blocks to interior. -Cove molding below hood to left with molding break and long hairline. -Hairline to waist case by top tombstone.
