Circa 1954-1955, designed as a cut velvet and netted top on a linen ground, the waist accented by a bright blue satin ribbon which drapes asymmetrically to one side, the bottom of the dress composed of black pleated satin, completed by a zip closure to the reverse, apparently unlabeled.

While unlabeled, the consignor purchased this exceptional dress for an event around 1955 from Oleg Cassini directly, as her aunt worked for the famed American designer in New York City. Collection of a Lady, GovernorÕs Club, Chapel Hill, NC

Oleg Cassini, one of the greatest American designers of the 20th century, was most famously known for creating the majority of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis's wardrobe during the Camelot years, as well as being engaged at one point to Grace Kelly.

In excellent condition with only the very slightest traces of wear throughout as to be expected of a piece of this age.
