The Collection of Barbara Rhoades, Hillsborough, NC

The collection of Barbara Rhoades, NC, grandniece of Katherine N. Rhoades and granddaughter of Lyman Rhoades, Sharon, CT and New York, NY.

A photograph of consignor's grandmother and father accompanies this lot. Presented to consignor's grandmother by her husband, Lyman Rhoades, in celebration of the birth of their son, John Harsen Rhoades, born August 11, 1911. By descent to the consignor, who wore the pendant to her debut at the "New York Society Debutante Ball" held January 1, 1969 at the Waldorf Astoria. The emerald accompanied by a GIA report stating that the emerald exhibits indications of minor clarity enhancement. It is common practice for emeralds to be clarity enhanced. To have an emerald as fine as this one which exhibits only minor clarity enhancement is a true rarity.
