Marked ISAAC & CO. on the top edge of the single fuller blade, additionally stamped with a large "G" just below the ricasso, topped with a single piece iron guard, quillon and pommel.

During the Civil War this British Model 1853 saber was imported through the blockade by the State of Georgia and was privately converted into a Confederate fighting knife. The blade was considerably shortened and the original hard rubber grips were replaced by crudely fashioned oak panels.
