Depicting American heroes from the American Revolution, Barbary Wars, War of 1812 and Mexican War, mid 19th century unless stated, (30) pieces, bronze, mostly engraved by Moritz Fuerst and signed "Furst F.", average diameter 64mm, the obverse carries the uniformed bust of the honoree, the reverse variously shows related battle scenes, allegorical figures or a Congressional Resolution authorizing the medal. These monumental high relief medals were made to exacting standards and are rendered with attention to the smallest detail. They are true masterpieces of early American numismatic art.

Both sides of each medal have been cleaned at some point; the reverses have re-toned (or have been re-toned) while the obverses have recently been cleaned; a few medals have dings; all have Extremely Fine details.
