Rare Joel Palmer Paint Decorated Blanket Chest

Attributed Fulton County, PA. The child's size chest has a dove-tailed case constructed of six boards, having a rectangular hinged top with applied molded edge opening to an interior well with till, the whole with red painted ground, the front decorated with a floral vase flanked by tall sunflowers. Inscribed below the lid "Na. Truax Dove Ridge Nov. the 7th 1854," the whole raised on an applied scrolled and spurred bracket foot base. Working lock with key.
