Wood, George B., Syllabus of the Course of Lectures on Materia Medica and Pharmacy Delivered in The University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia: Lydia R. Bailey, 1842), quarto, three-quarter morocco over marbled boards. A partially printed book mostly given to the owner's manuscript notes. The front pastedown is inscribed "L. U. Mayo" for Littleon Upshur Mayo and the front free endpaper is dedicated to him by his cousin George L. Upshur, M.D. in 1844. Mayo earned his medical degree from Pennsylvania in 1847 and would become a Confederate Army surgeon on June 6, 1862. After the war Dr, Mayo practiced in rural Virginia.
