In 1991, Carillon Importers LLC, the sole U.S distributor of Absolut Vodka, commissioned 51 painters to execute a "state portrait" incorporating the iconic bottle. The successful campaign featuring regional artists ran in US Today throughout 1992 and 1993. Each original painting was made available to collectors as a print in a three-hundred-copy limited edition run, raising money for AIDS research. This is one of only two artist's proofs produced from Maud's painting. Maud chose to portray "that big Carolina moon through the pines."
