Late 17th century copperplate engraving, "Nobil.mo Viro D. Dno. Carolo le Brun Equiti, Proto pictori Regis Christianmi, Regijs Picturis et operibus Praeposito, nec regiae Pictorum academiae Cancellario meritissimo," possibly later color, the French monarch Louis XIV is shown traveling through the countryside with his entourage. Van der Muelen worked under the great French court painter Charles le Brun, to whom this work is dedicated.
