French Black Slate Mantle Clock

Late 19th century, brass time and strike movement by Etienne Maxant, Paris, numbered EM 6249, the case raised on four gilt brass feet, its facade with two brass plaques having avian motifs, additional decorations are deeply engraved with gold highlights in the recesses, red marble accents frame the clock's dial, the whole is topped with four brass urn finials.

15.75 x 11.75 x 6.5 in.

The slate has a few minor nicks as is the norm; green verdigris is present on the two front finials; substantial gilt loss in the engraved decoration. With pendulum. Not guaranteed to be complete or in working condition.
