Research reveals the inlaid pediment relates to a documented John Swisegood (Davidson County, NC 1796-1874) corner cupboard in the MESDA files: #38948, photo # S-1104. See "The Swisegood School of Cabinetmaking" Exhibit Catalog, Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts, Winston-Salem, NC, 1973, Catalog Exhibit #5. The applied waist, lower paneled doors and feet relate to John Adams (Guilford County, NC 1778-1836), MESDA file: NC Piedmont #22 File 5482, of the Piedmont & Western NC Furniture. An exciting new Southern furniture discovery!

Later wax surface, later glazing to support early blown glass, lower portion of ogee foot tipped by 2.25 in. Note: Upper ogee feet and spurs original. Rear block foot replaced, other minor shrinkage cracks consistent with age.
