Georgian Sheffield Plate Meat Platter & Cover

The footed warming platter with the elephant and "GA" mark for R. Gainsford (circa 1808-1828), with well & tree and removable pierced liner, the domed cover with removable finial, gadrooned borders and ornate acorn decoration to both cover and platter. The cover with inset plaques - one with the motto "Animum et Mentem" beneath a family crest, the opposite with a demi lion rampant holding an arrow, the lion crest is repeated twice on the warming platter.

Some denting and wear to plate - possibly re-silvered.
