Circa 1800, walnut with yellow pine secondary, family history from Granville County, NC, rectangular form having a hinged top with bread board ends, divided interior, case fits into a base with a single drawer, raised on square tapered legs. MESDA Cataloging Label inside drawer dated 5/17/76.

Descended in the family from the original owner Howell Cobb Moss (1773-1831), great-grandfather of the present owner. Moss married Nancy Daniel in 1797 at which time it is thought the cellaret was acquired. Estate of the late Eugene Grissom Moss and the late Maria Frances Bullock, Granville County, North Carolina.

Replaced hinges and hinge mount board; left side interior missing divider; 2 in. molded rim of frame appears to be later; fracture to right front leg.
