Oil on canvas, signed at lower left "L. Jambor," depicting two young woman in antebellum attire leisurely floating on a lake and collecting water lilies, likely a southern scene, housed in a later gilt wood frame.

Louis Jambor, originally from Hungary, moved to the United States and traveled throughout the country. He spent some time in Florida and other southern states, painting murals and commissions. He completed a series of 26 panels for the grand Art Deco "The New Yorker" hotel in NYC. He was also commissioned to create frescoes for the patio at Mar-A-Lago in Palm Beach. He is also well-known for his illustrations for the 1947 edition of Louisa May Alcott's LITTLE WOMEN as well as the 1949 version of her JO'S BOYS. He also created backgrounds for the animated film version of GULLIVER'S TRAVELS.
