New York Classical Sideboard

Circa 1820's, mahogany with white pine secondary, marble top surmounted by mirrored side panels each with an upper shelf supported by fully turned columns. The central opening is flanked by convex cabinet doors with shelved interior, the whole raised on robust hairy paw feet with carved eagle, the carved wings extending beneath the cabinet doors.

63 x 74 x 24 in.

Exceptional carvings to the feet, see the sideboard in the Chillman Suite at the MFA-Houston Bayou Bend collection for similar carved feet. Possible attribution to J. Meeks.

Later bracing to back; roughness to marble.
