(27) notes total, with (18) Confederate central government notes listed according to Pierre Fricke's numbering system as follows: $100, Type 40, September 23, 1862, fine condition; $10, Type 52, December 2, 1862, on pink paper, nearly uncirculated; $10, Type 68, February 17, 1864, (14) notes, loss to corners of (3) notes while the remaining ones are in very fine to extremely fine condition; $5, Type 69 (2) notes, February 17, 1864, fair and very fine condition, plus (9) South Carolina notes ranging in denomination from 20-cents through $20. The fractional notes are heavily circulated, whereas the larger SC denominations are in very good condition. The bonds are as follows: 1) $100 bond for the Charleston & Savannah Railroad Co., one page, 4to, with coupons, signed by future Confederate brigadier general Thomas Drayton and dated April 11, 1861 - one day before the shelling of Fort Sumter commenced! Splits on folds, good condition. 2) South Carolina Military Defense Bond for $6,750 from the Planters & Mechanics Bank of South Carolina, oblong 4to, January 1, 1862. Folds, else very fine condition. 3 & 4) (2) $100 South Carolina Bonds, oblong 4to with coupons, January 1, 1861. Light aging, fine condition. 5) Certificate for seven shares in the Bank of the United States, one page, oblong 8vo, Charleston, SC, April 14, 1831. Fine condition. 6) Blank share certificate for Magnolia Cemetery in Charleston, oblong 8vo, undated, but 19th century, extremely fine condition.
