Circa 1900, satinwood and mahogany veneers with elaborate marquetry in the form of shields, foliate scrolls, griffins and military symbolism. The form is unusual in that the single drawer must be opened in order to release the cylinder roll, revealing pen and ink wells over (3) short drawers over fold out writing surface raised on tall tapered legs terminating in spade feet. Lock is stamped "Hobbs London Lever."
