Paint on artist's board, unsigned, the verso inscribed, "This is an original Ruth Faison Shaw finger painting, shown to me by Miss Shaw at the time of its painting circa 1964." Presented in a textured wooden frame. Ruth Faison Shaw, a native of Kenansville, NC, is best remembered for promoting the therapeutic value of finger painting. She founded the Shaw School in Rome, having subsequent teaching posts in Topeka, Kansas and at UNC-Chapel Hill.
