The gently tapering body with allover floral repousse design which is also repeated on the lid, cast handle, and cast spout, ivory spacers to handle indicate that this small jug was used for hot liquids - be it water, milk, or tea, hallmarked on the underside "S. Kirk & Son" and "11OZ" (circa 1860-1870).
