New Jersey Inlaid Tall Case Clock, circa 1795

Attributed to Matthew Egerton, Jr. of New Brunswick, N.J. (Egerton was active 1785-1837), mahogany and mahogany veneers with light and dark inlay throughout, the bonnet with broken arch pediment and finials, the face spandrel handpainted with a hunt design and floral sprays to the corners, has subsidiary date and second dials, the shaped waist door is flanked by half columns inlaid to resemble stop fluting, the case raised on tall bracket feet. Pendulum and weights are present.

85.5 x 19 x 10 in. with finial 90 in.
