Oil on canvas, signed lower left; with original Newman Galleries of Philadelphia type-written artist biographical label reading, "J.J. Enwright was born in Norway 1903. He came to Boston Mass. in 1920 and after having art training there studied at Gloucester Art Colony under the supervision of the famous Anthony Thieme. During the last 10 years, he has been working on harbor scenes in Gloucester and Rockport. He now exhibits in all the leading Galleries and although a young man has already a considerable reputation. We consider him on of the rising artists creating this type of subject." Handwritten gifting information added to label reads, "Presented to Walter Ludlow Taylor, Sept 27, 1944 by employees of Phila. Navy Yard (Public Works Dept and some others)." Presented in original silver gilt frame.
