Alan Tiegreen (GA/MS, 20th c.), "The Hunter"

Ink on paper, signed at lower center, matted and framed under glass, with gilt gallery plaque. Tiegreen is an accomplished illustrator of children's books, including the Ramona series by Beverly Cleary. He received his formal artistic training at the University of Southern Mississippi and the Art Center of Design in Los Angeles. Following graduation, he accepted a position in 1965 as teacher of painting, drawing, and illustration at Georgia State University's urban campus in Atlanta. His work has been exhibited at the Smithsonian, the Knoxville World's Fair, and in galleries in New York City, Los Angeles, and Atlanta.
