Lancaster, Pennsylvania, early 19th century, flintlock, 44.5" octagonal barrel; 60.5" LOA, highly figured maple stock, brass furniture, signed in script "M. Fordney" on barrel, lockplate signed "DREPPERT" (a student of Fordney's). Fordney's highly esteemed work is illustrated and discussed in Thoughts on the Kentucky Rifle by Joe Kindig, Jr.

This rifle has been restored, incorporating a new flintlock and counterlock. Additionally, the forestock has been spliced; the lock cavity re-worked; some wood replaced or filled; metallic and wooden surfaces stripped and stained to an antique appearance.
