(NJ, b. 1930), acrylic on canvas, signed and dated on the verso "Richard Anuskiewicz 1978, 544," housed in the original gilt wood modern frame. With bright primary colors reminiscent of the folk art pallete of his parent's native Poland, Anuszkiewicz uses the juxtaposition of these intense hues to trick the eye into the sense of movement on a static plane. One of the first "op artists," his work was included in two important shows at the Museum of Modern Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art in 1963.
