Circa 1810, walnut with Southern yellow pine secondary, the top with an applied molded edge, a dovetailed case with two over three scratch beaded drawers, raised on tall (7.25 in.) applied spurred bracket feet .

John & Isaac Holden purchased 330 acres on St. Mary's Rd. in 1793 and constructed a two-story log home. Isaac's son, Thomas Holden later lived in the home and fathered William Holden, NC Governor 1868-1871. This chest descended in the family.

A rare new discovery in "as found" condition.

Left molding missing; top with old shrinkage crack; loss of brasses and escutcheons but retaining four period posts; split to second drawer face; front foot re-glued; loss of two spurs.
