Oil on canvas (with wax lining), housed in a later carved wood frame with gilt highlights. Although unsigned, we strongly believe this painting to be by Frerichs. This scene is very similar in subject and treatment to other signed examples of Frerich's skating pictures. The castle is almost identical to one in a signed painting offered at Christie's New York (Rockefeller Plaza) as lot 20 on September 12, 2006.
