Chippendale Inlaid Blanket Chest, 18th century

Pennsylvania, walnut with an inlaid lightwood cartouche having the date "1786" and the initials "ELF;" the chest has a lid with a molded edge attached to the dovetailed case by wrought iron fish-tail hinges; the case, with two side by side drawers has an interior with a lidded till and a secret compartment , raised on shaped bracket feet.
