Payne, John, "Universal Geography Formed Into a New and Entire System...as Connected With Geography; of the Planetary System to Which the Earth Belongs; and of the Universe in General, Vol. I," (Dublin: Zachariah Jackson, 1793), 894 pp., 4to (11 x 8.75 in.), later 3/4 leather covers with brown cloth, tooled gilt spine. Fontispiece consists of hand-colored copperplate engraving of commercial plants, including cotton, teas and spices. The text, exploring Asia, Africa and the Pacific, incorporates several engravings depicting the inhabitants of these regions.

Shelf rub to covers, worn hinges, binding remains tight, scattered damp stains and light foxing internally, former owner's library plate inside front cover. Overall good condition.
