John Braxton Left-Handed NC Percussion Rifle

Late 20th century, 36.25 in. octagonal barrel marked "J. B. 42," 3/8 in. bore, walnut half stock, brass furniture, hammer and lockplate on the left side of the stock.

Mr. Braxton, of Snow Camp, Alamance County, was recognized in 1992 as a North Carolina "Living Treasure" for lifelong achievements as a traditional Piedmont gunsmith. His black powder rifles closely follow historical prototypes and are highly prized by collectors and shooters.

The action does not hold in full or half cock and needs mechanical adjustment; light oxidation; a few handling marks; very good condition.
