Thin colored glass rods known as cane, are used to apply the design to the molten glass. The rod is then fused into the glass and eventually expanded during the blowing process. Each piece is blown freeform without the use of molds or patterns. In addition to decorative creations, Bernstein is known for his functional glass works.
