Emlen Etting was a filmmaker, printmaker, sculptor and painter. Harvard educated, he studied art in Paris with Andre Lhote from 1928-1931. He returned to the states and settled in Philadelphia, where he married Gloria Braggiotti in 1938. Many of his portraits are of fellow members of Philadelphia's Main Line society. Etting's works remain in the permanent collections of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Allentown Art Museum, and the Museum of American Art at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.
