Edo period (1615-1868), signed on underside "kyukoku," the black lacquer inro case is decorated with an mother-of-pearl elephant, the ojime is a delicately detailed metal bead, the small netsuke of a seated man hangs from perhaps the original rope.

The Collection of LCDR George Lee Weddington, Jr., USN (Ret.) and Mrs. Elizabeth “Betsy” Gardner Weddington The late George and Betsy Weddington of New York City and Warrenton, NC prized education, hard work and public service throughout their noteworthy lives. George was already a highly decorated Navy fighter pilot in 1965 when he married Betsy, a talented television actress and insightful freelance columnist.
