The Prussing Estate

Born in Nuremberg, Germany, Ritchsel immigrated to New York City in 1895. He began sketching the sea while a young sailor and continued capturing its complexities throughout his successful career as a marine painter. This painting was completed shortly before moving to Carmel, CA in 1911 and prior to his election to the National Academy of Design in 1914.
